Hearing Damage: The Unseen Workplace Hazard

Aug 27, 2025

Research from Hearing Australia shows that 11% of Australians have experienced hearing damage caused by workplace noise; and between 2015 and 2022, almost 30,000 workers compensation claims were lodged for hearing loss.

The reality of noise-induced hearing loss?

  • It’s permanent
  • It often goes unnoticed until it’s too late
  • It’s preventable with the right controls

With new mandatory audiometric testing laws now in effect in Queensland, it’s a timely reminder that protecting hearing isn’t just about compliance – it’s about looking after your team’s long-term health and wellbeing.

👷 Employers:

  • Assess workplace noise exposure
  • Supply and ensure the correct use of hearing protection where required
  • Schedule audiometric testing for workers that are required to wear hearing protection to safely do their job due to noise above the exposure standard (in Queensland, testing is mandatory within 3 months of commencement of employment and at least every two years thereafter)

At Onsite Testing, we make compliance easier by delivering noise and audiometric testing at your workplace, minimising downtime while protecting your people. Learn more at www.onsitetesting.com.au.
